TBC News, Issue 60 FEATURED

from Deaf Women Speak Out: A Collection of Stories

"In celebration of Deaf women in the 90s, we asked some of our friends and colleagues to speak out about their lives and their identity as Deaf women in their particular professions. We would encourage other Deaf women to send their stories to TBC and add to this growing volume of written history, so that Deaf women can be given the respect and the recognition that they so rightfully deserve."

 from Vicki Grossinger, Deaf Mother

"I am a Deaf daughter of hearing parents. My mom and I used gestures and lipreading to communicate with each other. She always ensured that I understood what was going on. I only wish that my father was alive to see all of my accomplishments thus far, and to see that it’s definitely NOT a shame to have Deaf children."
