Who Is In Control (Spoken English)
This online IMI Seminar is conducted in spoken English, without interpretation. It is designed for both working and student interpreters (Deaf-parented/coda, hearing).
Interpreting is a higher order cognitive process. Successful interpreting is accomplished when there is a "supervisor" who is in charge. What we have learned from years of interpreter education and from observing interpersonal interaction is that there are other parts of our brain that compete with the supervisory function. In this online IMI Seminar, we identify these factors and discuss how we can use the supervisor while minimizing these other interfering parts and processes.
