BMC Mentoring Program

The 2026 schedule of appointments is being prepared.

Are you eager to talk about your interpreting, but not sure how to get started?

Come to a conversation with a colleague who is a Process Mediation (PM) practitioner. Process Mediation is a mentoring approach premised on a strengths-based dialogic approach, which meets each practitioner where they are. It is rooted in the belief that interpreters can examine their decision-making to explore the things they want to and can improve.

Sharing your thinking in the presence of a skilled listener provides the opportunity for introspection and examination. During a PM a you will engage with a colleague who listens to understand and asks questions. You will explore the “whys” of your decisions, gaining understanding that can be applied to future interpreting situations.

What does this cost?

  1. First session: Your initial session will be 30 minutes, at no cost. This session will be for the purposes of getting acclimated to the PM process and for you to set goals for future sessions.
  2. Follow-up sessions: These sessions will be an average of 45 minutes each. Each session costs $60 paid to BMC, add $5.00 and include .075 RID PS CEUs.

How do I set up my initial session with a new mentor?

  1. Visit the mentor page.
  2. Choose a mentor you would like to meet with and contact them directly via the form on their mentor bio page.

How do I set up my follow up sessions?
